We’re not run of the mill!
Over the years, we have maintained a reputation for manufacturing quality products made from sustainable British timber. We are so confident of our workmanship that all products made in our joiners shop are guaranteed.
About us
At Duncombe Sawmill our aim is to combine your vision with our craftsmanship to develop, design and craft, enduring, quality timber products that are tailored to each individuals’ specific sizes and designs. Catering to individuals and trade professionals alike.
With a heritage spanning over 120 years, Duncombe Sawmill has maintained a reputation for manufacturing quality products made from sustainable British Timber. Initially part of Duncombe Park Estate, the Sawmill has played a historic role in maintaining woodlands, boundaries, creating gates and fencing for the estate, and supplying firewood to the main house since the nineteenth century. In the twentieth century, the sawmill relocated to our present location on Sawmill Lane, formerly known as Bobbin Mill. As one of the four sawmills in Helmsley during that era, we are proud of our deep-rooted connections with our craft and the local community.
What we do
We specialise in crafting bespoke drive, garden and estate gates, garden furniture, timber planters, bird tables and more. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted on our premises, using sustainable timber, ensuring the highest quality. Our skilled joiners, continue to use high quality timber and employ traditional techniques passed down through generations.
We are proud of the heritage, and we have a couple of claims to fames too! Stella McCartney showcased Duncombe Sawmill gates in one of her catwalk shows, while our planters were prominently displayed at the Forestry Stewardship Council stand during the 2015 Chelsea Flower Show. Even Tony Robinson lent a hand in crafting one of our gates on the popular television show “Coast to Coast”!
